A Troop where boys can be themselves

Our Scouts represent schools across the area, and are active in many pursuits, including: soccer, volleyball, tennis, mountain biking, basketball, cross country, band, orchestra, theater, robotics, and church.

Our Mission

Founded in 1988, Troop 897 in Midlothian, Virginia, offers a Scouting experience focused on developing leaders through a comprehensive program grounded in community service.

Scout-Led

By allowing our Scouts to take ownership of the program, we build leadership skills that translate to future success. This includes planning our annual schedule, organizing trips and leading our Troop meetings.

Boy Scouts and parents

Parent-Involved

Parents remain a key part of the Troop’s success. The Troop is proudly supported by parent volunteers who provide individual attention and consistently meet Scouts where they are.

Service-Minded

Giving back to the community is a core tenet of the Scouting program, and our Troop is no exception. Our Scouts have dedicated more than 2,000 hours of community service over the few past years.
